Be-Well is providing nutritional advice to many top-rowers in the Uk and Holland. We have been active in rowing for over 15 years providing 1-on-1 nutritional programs. Rowing requires a unique and spercific combination of skill, power and endurance of the aerobic and the anaerobic energy systems.

Training as well as nutrtion has to be specific because elite and other serious rowers put in long hours of intense training while the events themselves usually last 5-7 minutes. The nutritional program we provide depends on the type of training and the goals he wishes to achieve with repect to power, weight and endurance.

In general rowers need a high-carbohydrate, high-energy, nutrient-packed diet to maintain muscle mass. For heavyweight rowers, total mass is important and therefore body fat levels are often higher than in other sports, though lightweight rowers should consider the advantages of an optimum power-to-weight ratio and aim to limit body fat levels.

Be-Well is looking after several Olympic and professional rowers, including James Cracknell in his attempt to break the two-handed trans atlantic rowing record next month. For rowers we have developed a special programme that we call the Before, During and After programme:

  • The “before” product package is designed to optmise loading of carbohydrate prior to a major bout of exercise utilising mainly long–chain glucose polymers.
