Apart from at top international level, cricket is not one of the most physically demanding of sports, which often means that players neglect to take their nutritional requirements seriously. The main areas of concern to a cricketer are those of endurance and energy, and given that most cricket matches take place in strong sunshine, hydration is also a key issue. Many cricket matches take place over a number of days, making speedy recovery from the previous day’s exertion of paramount importance.
