Whether performed on a purely recreational, or more competitive basis, jogging has many health and fitness benefits, but also carries a number of risks. Injury amongst joggers is common – particularly to the Achilles tendons and knee and hip joints. ‘Footstrike haemolosis’ is also a common problem for joggers. This is a particular form of iron deficiency anaemia caused by the destruction of red blood cells, which occurs as the feet repeatedly strike the pavement. In order to gain maximum enjoyment and health benefit from jogging, it is important to improve both strength and stamina, increase energy levels, and enhance oxygen take up in the muscles.
Be-well have developed a programme of nutrients especially for joggers, to be taken before, during and after exercise:
- The ‘before’ product is designed to maximise the intake of carbohydrate prior to jogging, utilising mainly long-chain glucose polymers.
- The ‘during’ product is designed to maintain hydration during exercise whilst providing some energy in the form of a combination of carbohydrates.
- The ‘after’ products combines protein and carbohydrates to promote recovery, muscle resynthesis and growth and give you flexible healthy joints or help you speed up joint and tendon injuries.
Put the Be-well nutrition System for Sports and Fitness to the test and get some spring in your step.
