| The ability to bend
For many athletes, increasing flexibility is not a top training priority. It tends to come way down the list, below its big brothers, strength and stamina. However, in neglecting to pay enough attention to flexibility, an athlete can be storing up a whole load of trouble for themselves in the future.
The term flexibility in sport is not specific to the obvious kind displayed by gymnasts and ballet dancers, but to Functional Flexibility – not just range of motion, but ease of range of motion. Good flexibility prevents injury, improves performance and goes hand in hand with muscular strength. It is particularly important in athletics (where flexibility can prevent injuries to the Achilles tendons), rowing – which requires strength and flexibility in the muscles of the back, and raquet sports such as tennis and squash.
At Be-well we produce a product package specifically designed to deliver, in optimum form, the correct combination of nutrients to improve and enhance flexibility in athletes and sportspeople of all disciplines.
