An element of co-ordination, balance and stability training is essential in the training programme for many sports. However, many athletes reach a certain level with this and find that they can go no further, or find that their ability to sustain co-ordination and concentration goes through stages of peaks and troughs. This could be explained by specific nutritional deficiencies – a lack of certain essential vitamins, minerals and amino acids - which affect brain function. This, in turn, has an adverse effect on performance.
As well as the hand-eye co-ordination which is so obviously vital in raquet sports such as tennis and squash, any sport involving the ability to perform two or more functions simultaneously relies on good co-ordination – in other words, most sports!
