Many sports in which stamina is important are also those requiring disciplined technique, flexibility, power and endurance. Performance is enhanced by a high power-to-weight ratio, low body fat levels and light muscling.
In order to maintain good levels of stamina and enhance performance, a varied fuel intake - including nutrient-dense sources of carbohydrate, lean sources of protein and good quality fats - is essential. This will have the effect of maximising glycogen stores before and during an event.
