| The extent to which muscles can exert force by contracting against resistance (holding or restraining an object or person)
Strength is essential in many sports such as rugby, athletics, rowing, and cycling – in other words, not just weight lifting! The term ‘strength’ is usually used in relation to muscles, but in order for optimum strength to be realised, bones, joints and connective tissue also need to be in top condition. It used to be commonly thought that strength athletes had an increased protein requirement which led to many of them eating large quantities of meat. This is because proteins from animal sources contain all the essential amino acids, which are difficult to come by elsewhere. However, a diet which relies too heavily on meat runs the risk of being high in fat.
At Be-well we produce a product package specifically designed to deliver, in optimum form, the correct combination of nutrients to improve and enhance strength in athletes and sportspeople of all disciplines.
